Beyoncé Knowles and husband Jay Z  took a break from their busy schedules to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. The couple, who are currently travelling across Europe with Bey’s Mrs Carter tour, spent a few hours at the Frank family safe-house on Wednesday.

The family were discovered by Nazis in 1944 after hiding successfully for two years, Anne died in early March, 1945, after contracting typhoid in Belsen concentration camp. Beyoncé, wearing a denim jumpsuit and black hat, was pictured signing the visitors book, and looking around the home before posing for discreet pictures taken by her husband.

‘They were very impressed by their visit,’ an Anne Frank House spokesperson revealed. Gillian Walnes, executive director of the Anne Frank Trust UK, said the visit ‘sends a very positive message to young fans. ‘It invites their curiosity about knowing more – reading Anne’s diary, or even visiting the Anne Frank House’

‘When Justin Bieber visited last year, and caused such a media furore, it actually resulted in thousands of young people wanting to know more about Anne Frank and her story.’

The pop star provoked outrage when he visited the Anne Frank Museum in 2013 and wrote the message: ‘Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.’

Beyoncé went down better in Amsterdam than she did in the Hampshire Village of Woolton Hill, where she stayed while performing in London The 32-year-old used a helicopter to travel to and from the village to the capital every night. And it would seem that the XO hitmaker has caused quite the furore among her temporary neighbours with her chopper, with some residents complaining about the ‘very noisy’ and low-flying mode of transport.  Helen Carlile told The Independent: ‘She was staying at the estate for a while and obviously on tour, so she was in and out every night.

‘Other celebrities are believed to come in, but Beyoncé is the one we’re most aware of. Villagers do talk about the helicopters and they are frustrated by them. It’s often late at night and very noisy. They seem to come invery low.
