She performed her single “I Was Here” Off her latest album 4 which was recorded and will be released globally on August 19 as part of the celebration of World Humanitarian Day.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are not only the undisputed first couple of hip-hop, but they are also the world’s highest-paid celebrity couple, according to Forbes.

The music moguls rose to the top of the ranks after getting beat out by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen back in 2011.

This year, despite Beyoncé’s seemingly lower profile in the music world, she still managed to rack in $40 million thanks to her many ventures in and out of music, including her 2011 album 4. As for Hova, well, Forbes notes he brought in slightly less with an income of $38 million thanks to his Watch the Throne album and tour with Kanye West, as well as his own enterprises outside of music.

While their combined $78 million makes them the couple to beat, last year’s #1 couple Gisele and Tom are following close at #2 with $72 million in a combined salary. Beyonce is teaming with the United Nations and humanitarian aid organizations on a global campaign to encourage people around the world to get involved.

The international pop star and songwriter Diane Warren will donate a video of ‘‘I Was Here’’ that will be filmed in the UN General Assembly Hall in New York in front of a live audience. The video will premiere Aug. 19 on World Humanitarian Day and the UN hopes it will help the campaign reach 1 billion people.

A news release says the campaign website launched Thursday and allows people to share individual acts of good.

Beyonce says in the statement that World Humanitarian Day is a chance to work together and ‘‘this is our time to leave our mark on the world.’’

Beyoncé Knowles has donned many guises in her entertainment career — musical superstar, fashion icon, actress.

Now she’s looking to add a rather different notch: documentary director.

Knowles and her representatives at agency ICM have in recent weeks been shopping a nonfiction film to Hollywood studios about the celebrity’s life and career.

According to a person familiar with the package who was not authorized to talk about it publicly, the movie is as a mix of music and personal study, blending concert footage with confessional interview. Knowles not only stars in the project but is directing it, and will also serve as a producer. About 20 minutes of footage has been shown to distributors.

A representative at Knowles’ agency did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Knowles certainly would have a lot to discuss in the doc. In the last 18 months, she’s released a top-selling album (“4”), split from her longtime manager (her father), and had a baby, Blue Ivy Carter, with husband Jay-Z, among other noteworthy events. Read the rest of this entry »
