Beyoncé’s debut at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 14 powered big gains for her music sales and streams in the U.S. in the week ending April 19, according to Nielsen Music.

The diva headlined the second night of the festival, which was streamed live on YouTube. Her well-received performance featured her husband JAY-Z, her sister Solange and a Destiny’s Child reunion alongside group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams .

Combined, the album and song catalog of both Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child saw an 83 percent increase in sales in the week ending April 19, as the two acts combined sold 8,000 albums (up 102 percent from 4,000 a week earlier) and 37,000 digital tracks (up 79 percent from 21,000).

The biggest-selling album between the two acts was Beyoncé’s 2016 set Lemonade, which re-enters the April 28-dated Top Album Sales chart at No. 24 with 5,000 sold (up 142 percent) — its best sales frame since the week ending Dec. 28, 2017.

On the Billboard 200 — which ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption — Lemonade re-enters at No. 91, while her self-titled 2013 album returns at No. 138 and 2008’s I Am… Sasha Fierce jumps back onto the tally at No. 160.

Both the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales chart, along with the rest of Billboard’s charts dated April 28, will post on Billboard’s websites on Tuesday (April 24).

Beyoncé’s top three biggest-selling songs during the latest tracking week, as a lead act, were “Formation” (3,000), “Sorry” (2,000) and “Hold Up” (2,000) — all from her Lemonade album, and all were performed at Coachella.

Music streams of both Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child also increased following the April 14 Coachella performance, as their collected tunes saw a 21 percent rise in on-demand audio and video streams (rising to 49.9 million, up from 41.2 million).

Beyoncé also performed for a second and final time at the 2018 Coachella festival on April 21. Any gains resulting from performance — which was not streamed on YouTube — would be captured in the tracking week ending April 26.

BEYONCÉ’S LEMONADE: JACK WHITE, JAMES BLAKE AND OTHERS DETAIL THE ALBUM’S KEY INGREDIENTS

59th GRAMMY nominees Beyoncé, Mike Will Made-It and others tell the inside story of the Album Of The Year-nominated Lemonade

On the evening of April 23, 2016, Beyoncé turned the entire entertainment industry on its head with the surprise release of Lemonade. With its Best Music Film GRAMMY-nominated companion celebrating African-American culture, and lyrics that had everyone speculating about her relationship with Jay Z and the identity of “Becky with the good hair,” Lemonade successfully quenched her fans’ thirst.

The leading 59th GRAMMY nominee’s sixth studio album is arguably more nuanced than her previous projects. While Beyoncé has tackled women’s empowerment and relationship topics before, Lemonade is more personal, representing a shift for an artist who manages to be omnipresent and mysterious. For the first time, Beyoncé appeared vulnerable, but still Queen Bey — demonstrated with songs celebrating her womanhood and heritage in the midst of racial turmoil.

The album has since become a pop-culture phenomenon — discussed everywhere from daytime talk shows to university classrooms — garnering Beyoncé nine GRAMMY nominations in six Fields, including Rock, R&B and Rap, and upping her career nomination total to 62. Following is the inside story of Lemonade.

James Blake (featured artist/producer): Beyoncé came to the studio and I was sitting at the piano when I met her. She was just lovely. I came up with something to go with an idea she had. I just embellished her melody. I think the idea was to use some of her lyrics, but I didn’t realize that — I misunderstood and did something entirely different from what she wanted. But it didn’t matter, because she really liked it. Blue Ivy was there too, which was nice. She was singing along to the song, which was a huge compliment because kids just don’t have any pretense whatsoever.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that my song came in at the point that it did, and that she harmonizes with me for a brief moment. The first time I heard that, I got chills.

“Lemonade” Nominated For The Emmys

So this is what they meant when they said, “I came to slay bitch”

The film, which aired on HBO as a visual accompaniment to Beyoncé album of the same name, is nominated in four categories.

Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Event Or Award Special
Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special
Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming
    Outstanding Variety Special

For three of the awards, HBO is listed as the nominee “in association with Parkwood Entertainment,” along with the editor or production designer, etc. But, for the directing award, Beyoncé herself is listed along with the production companies and fellow director, Kahlil Joseph, which means that not only could Beyoncé’s entertainment company take home an award, but the singer could, as well, for her directing work.

Congrats Bey!

“Formation” Debuts In Top 10 On Billboard Hot 100

Beyonce blasts onto the chart at No. 10 with “Formation.” The song, from her album Lemonade, which roars onto the Billboard 200 at No. 1, is her 16th solo Hot 100 top 10 and first since “Drunk in Love,” featuring Jay Z, which reached No. 2 in February 2014. (Beyonce has also notched 10 top 10s as part of Destiny’s Child.)

“Formation” bows with roughly two-thirds of its Hot 100 points from sales, as it starts at No. 3 on Digital Songs with 174,000 sold, having gone on sale April 25. It also enters Streaming Songs at No. 43 (6.5 million) with almost all its streaming points from Tidal, which holds exclusive streaming rights to Lemonade. (A nominal portion of streaming points is from user-generated clips featuring the song’s official audio.)

“Formation,” which also re-enters Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at a new high of No. 6, had bubbled under the Hot 100 and rose to No. 33 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in March, driven by airplay, when it was not available for purchase (and Tidal did not report the song’s streaming totals to Nielsen; none of its streams prior to April 23 were reported by Tidal to Nielsen). The track first made waves in early February, as Beyonce performed it live during the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show (Feb. 7).
