Beyonce Takes Top Honors at the Grammy Awards

Making history is nothing new for Beyoncé, and nothing is slowing her down from setting more records.

The cultural icon, who went into the 2025 Grammy Awards with 11 nominations, continued to claim her rightful throne in music throughout the Sunday night ceremony, where she broke more records.

While she is already the most-awarded Grammy artist in history (she set that record in 2023 with her album Renaissance), she extended her record on Sunday. She won three awards during the 2025 ceremony, bringing her total number of trophies to 35.

Beyoncé also finally won album of the year for Cowboy Carter after years of being nominated for but not winning the top award. The win gets rid of her “record” as the most nominated female artist without a win in the album of the year category. (She was previously nominated for I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé, Lemonade and Renaissance.)

“I just feel very full and very honored. It’s been many, many years,” she says while accepting the long-awaited award. “I just wanna thank the Grammys, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work. I want to dedicate this to Ms. [Linda] Martell, and I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors. God bless y’all. Thank you so much.”

Beyoncé will perform a halftime show during one of the NFL’s Christmas Day games

Beyoncé will perform at a halftime show during one of the NFL’s Christmas Day matchups on Netflix.

She will take the stage during a game between her hometown team, the Houston Texans, and the Baltimore Ravens, to perform songs from her latest album, Cowboy Carter.

The project was recently nominated for 11 Grammys, breaking the record for the most nominations for an album by a female artist, and placed Beyoncé as the artist with the most nominations in history, with 99.

Artists featured on the album could make an appearance, some of whom include Miley Cyrus, Post Malone and Shaboozey, Netflix said Sunday.

Beyoncé previously performed at two Super Bowl halftime shows — in 2013 with Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, her former Destiny’s Child bandmates, and in 2016 with Coldplay and Bruno Mars.

The game will stream on Netflix at 4:30 p.m. ET and be shown on the participating teams’ local broadcast channels. Earlier in the day, Netflix is also streaming a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The company says it has also secured holiday games for 2025 and 2026.

Beyonce drops “Beywatch”

With her recent overwhelming support of VP Kamala Harris, Beyonce dropped a visual! Yes you read that right, we finally got a “visual”.

Urging people to vote, Beyonce channeled the legendary Pamala Anderson from her Baywatch role, and to the song “Bodyguard”, Beyonce brings us “Beywatch”. Note that in the behind the scene photos, she pokes fun at the hive by walking the red carpet at BTV NO VISUAL AWARDS. (insert eye roll here lol)

The Business of Being Beyoncé Knowles-Carter

In GQ’s October cover story, the artist talks business, legacy, art, and family: “It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being revolutionary.”

Beyoncé is breaking out.

Midway through Cowboy Carter, her eighth and most recent studio album, released this past spring, a voice makes the project’s mission statement plain over blaring alarms and a thunderous beat—declaring the concept of genre to be a sense of confinement for those artists whose creativity is too wide-ranging to fit in a neat box. All before Beyoncé herself saunters in comparing herself to Thanos, the Marvel villain known for seeking precious stones of mystical power to claim as his own and assemble into one unified superpower.

There may not be an accompanying music video, but the lyrics conjure a potent visual: Beyoncé, armed with a bedazzled gauntlet, breaking down every stultifying wall, label, or box the industry ever tried to put her in across her 30-year career.

It’s a theme that applies to much of what Beyoncé has been up to for the past decade or so, especially in the last couple of years: a mission of reclamation, recentering Blackness in spaces where our influence has since been de-emphasized, whether in rodeo, on the great American plains, or on sweaty ballroom dance floors.

Beyoncé Achieves Eighth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘Cowboy Carter’

The set also starts at No. 1 on Top Country Albums, making Beyoncé the first Black woman ever to have led the list.

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter gallops in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated April 13), debuting with 407,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 4, according to Luminate. It’s the superstar’s eighth No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

With 407,000 units earned, Cowboy Carter claims the biggest week of 2024 and the largest since Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) bowed with 1.653 million units on the Nov. 11, 2023-dated list. Cowboy Carter’s launch is also Beyoncé’s biggest week, by units, since her Lemonade album debuted at No. 1 with 653,000 units (mostly from traditional album sales) on the May 14, 2016, chart. The new effort also lands Beyoncé her biggest streaming week ever.

Cowboy Carter also launches at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, Americana/Folk Albums and Top Album Sales charts. She’s the first Black woman ever to have led the Top Country Albums list, dating to its January 1964 inception. Cowboy Carter also claims the biggest week for a country album, by units earned, since last July, when Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), opened at No. 1 on the July 22, 2023 chart with 716,000 units.

Cowboy Carter was introduced by the singles “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” which were released during the Super Bowl festivities on Feb. 11. The tracks debuted and have peaked (through the charts dated April 6) at Nos. 1 and 9, respectively, on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, marking Beyoncé’s first entries on the tally. They have also reached Nos. 1, for two weeks, and 38 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

Of Cowboy Carter’s first-week unit sum of 407,000, SEA units comprise 232,000 (equaling 300.41 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), traditional album sales comprise 168,000 and TEA units comprise 7,000. With 300.41 million on-demand official streams, Cowboy Carter earns Beyoncé her biggest streaming week ever and the fourth-largest for a country album.

Cowboy Carter marks Beyoncé’s eighth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. She previously led the list with Renaissance (in 2022), Lemonade (2016), her self-titled album (2013), 4 (2011), I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008), B’Day (2006) and Dangerously In Love (2003). Beyoncé breaks out of a tie with Janet Jackson for the fourth-most No. 1s among women. Swift has the most, with 13, followed by Barbra Streisand (11), Madonna (nine), Beyoncé (eight) and Jackson (seven).

Cowboy Carter’s sales were supported by the album’s availability across a number of configurations, released on March 29. It was issued as standard 19-track edition on vinyl (across four variants, each pressed on different color vinyl [black, red, white and blue] with alternate back cover artwork), a CD with an additional song (“Flamenco”) and a digital download and streaming edition (both in clean and explicit versions, with three bonus songs “Flamenco,” “Spaghetti” and “Ya Ya,” plus two interludes). The CD edition was issued in four variants (each with different back cover art). Two of the variants were sold as stand-alone items, while two of the CDs were only available inside two deluxe boxed sets (each with a different branded T-shirt contained inside a branded box). All physical configurations of the album were sold exclusively through Beyoncé’s official webstore, while the digital download and streaming editions were widely available.

The vinyl edition of Cowboy Carter sold 62,000 copies (across its four variants combined), marking Beyoncé’s biggest week on vinyl and the largest week for any vinyl album in 2024.

Cowboy Carter boasts an eclectic lineup of billed guest artists, including Tanner Adell, Beyoncé’s daughter Rumi Carter, Miley Cyrus, Willie Jones, Tiera Kennedy, Linda Martell, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Post Malone, Reyna Roberts, Shaboozey, and Brittney Spencer. Among the many additional players on the album: 070 Shake, Jon Batiste, Ryan Beatty, Gary Clark Jr., The-Dream, Rhiannon Giddens, Paul McCartney, Pharrell, Robert Randolph, Nile Rodgers, Raphael Saadiq, Sara Watkins and Stevie Wonder.

Beyoncé Accepts Innovator Award at 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards

The superstar received her award from Stevie Wonder.

Beyoncé received her much-deserved Innovator Award at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday night (April 1), and the “Texas Hold ‘Em” superstar took the stage to accept her trophy from a fellow icon, Stevie Wonder.

“Whenever anyone asks me if there’s anyone I could listen to for the rest of my life, it’s always you. God bless you,” she told the “Isn’t She Lovely” singer, thanking him for playing the harmonica on her version of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” featured on her freshly released album, Cowboy Carter.

Wonder then sweetly told Bey, “I just want to thank you for motivating the world to becoming a better place.”

During her heartfelt acceptance speech, Beyoncé shared what being an innovator means to her. “Innovation starts with a dream, and the road to execute that dream can be very bumpy. Being an innovator is doing what everyone believes is impossible,” she told the crowd, dressed in line with her current country era, rocking a leather jumpsuit with fringe, as well as a big belt with a buckle and a sleek black cowboy hat. “Being an innovator often means being criticized, which often will test your mental strength. Being an innovator is leaning on faith and trusting that God will catch you and guide you.”

She continued, “To all the record labels, every radio station, every award show, my hope is that we’re more open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art with no preconceived notions. I want to dedicate this award to all the innovators who have dedicated their lives and their art to creating shifts. Thank you for your sacrifice and your powerful forces and your dauntless spirit.”

Bey then thanked the artistic innovators who inspired her, including Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Tracy Chapman, Linda Martell, Prince, Andre 3000, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson and Wonder, applauding them for “executing your dream so we can all follow.”

The “Break My Soul” singer wrapped up by thanking her team at her Parkwood Entertainment company, as well as her husband Jay-Z, whom she called “my rock, my best friend,” and her three children — 12-year-old Blue Ivy and six-year-old twins Sir and Rumi — “who continue to be my inspiration and biggest blessing.”

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter arrived on Friday (March 29) and officially became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2024, and marked the most first-day streams for a country album by a female artist in the history of Amazon Music.
