Hank Willis Thomas

While we’ve got your attention, allow us to give you a little knowledge. Being that it is Black History Month, we decided to give you a little insight on an artist that Beyonce herself has also, recently posted about. Hank Willis Thomas.

Conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas uses photography to explore issues of identity, history, race, and class. Inspired by the works of Carrie Mae Weems, Lorna Simpson, and his mother, photographer Deborah Willis, he employs language and familiar imagery to address issues that are often overlooked in our pop culture-obsessed, consumerist culture. Appropriated print advertisements from 1968—a landmark year in the Civil Rights Movement—are stripped of their context to open up questions of cultural stereotypes and the way the media perpetuates them, while in the series “Branded” he inverts the work, adding contemporary ad copy to provocative images. “In recent years I have approached my art practice assuming the role of a visual culture archaeologist,” Thomas has said. “I am interested in the ways that popular imagery informs how people perceive themselves and others around the world.”

EXCLUSIVE: Beyonce L’Oreal Outtakes

In 2013, Beyonce shot commercial and ads for L’Oreal’s Feria & Infallible campaigns. We have added some exclusive outtakes from the shoots’ set. Make sure you check them out in the gallery.

Due to the disdain of the BeyHive, we have removed the photos. We don’t want to cause any drama, nor do we wish to start fan wars. Some of the things we have seen posted were just horrible, and we don’t want any parts of it. We were just posting the photos to share the fact that our queen is naturally beautiful, at the same time she is just a regular woman.

The Carters Meet Irv Gotti At Noble

Completely Unbothered! At least that’s how it seems, being that The Carters were spotted out and about in New York City, in the middle of a winter storm. The couple met up with legendary Murder Inc head honcho, Irv Gotti. If you recall, Irv had kind of let the cat out of the bag in Nov. 2013, when he started tweeting #DrunkLove, referring to the couple’s smash single, prior to it being released. I wonder if this will fuel the fire of an upcoming duet album that Detail was talking about last week? Only time will tell! Until then, check out the photos in our gallery.

Beyonce & Jay Party With Saturday Night Live

After The show, it’s the afterparty… Well sorta. After the NBA All Star game last night, Bey and Jay were spotted walking into The Plaza hotel, where they attended a party celebrating Saturday Night Live’s 40th Anniversary. We have added photos to the gallery.

Over the years Beyonce has been spoofed by the great comedienne, Maya Rudolph. On the 40th Anniversary show, “For forty years and forty nights,” Maya crooned in perfect sync to the tune of “Drunk In Love” and sounding almost like Beyonce. Watche below.
