Pharrell Williams likes to spread the wealth and the credit. As a music producer and all-around tastemaker, he’s played key roles on two of the year’s biggest songs (Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” duh). BBC Black, his collaborative clothing line with renowned menswear designer Mark McNairy, is making waves in the fashion industry. And he’s the host of ARTST TLK, a YouTube interview series that finds him in the role of expert journalist, mining intriguing answers from fellow artists like Spike Lee and KAWS. Basically, sharing is Pharrell’s thing.
Billboard sat down with Williams at this week’s launch in New York City to talk about his upcoming work with Beyoncé
Billboard: Who else are you producing for that we can look out for in the months to come?
Pharrell: Ed Sheeran. Usher. I’m going back in with T.I. Beyonce. Jennifer Hudson. Nelly has this really big record named “Rick James.” That’s my jam. Hans Zimmer and I are scoring “The Amazing Spiderman 2.” The “Happy” video, it just feels like people—good people that all remember that we are entitled to smile. I’m very excited about that.
Billboard: How’s the Beyonce work coming along? She’s been crafting this album for a while.
Pharrell: B’s album is crazy. Let me tell you what it is. She’s very particular. She’s a Virgo. And she’s not going to put it out until it’s ready and feels like it’s right to her. She’s got a very specific taste. I guess that’s the reason she’s Beyonce. Her name is recognizable around the globe and that’s huge. That comes from someone that has very particular taste. When you know what you want, you won’t stop until you get it. [Other people are hearing her album] and are like “Whoa!” And she’s like, “Yeah, I’m almost done.” And she’s the queen.
Billboard: So we can wait.
Pharrell: That’s exactly right. We will wait.

Before International Rugby matches, the New Zealand All Blacks perform the Haka, a traditional war dance meant to intimidate the opponent. It is also used to honor a distinguished guest. After Beyoncé’s October 19 show in Auckland the local crew welcomed her with a Haka.
Best gift ever? Just in time for the 2013 holiday season, Beyonce is offering twelve months of fierceness! The international megastar is coming out with her very first calendar, and Us Weekly has the exclusive first look!
Queen Bey, 32, is stunning and toned on the cover of her brand new 2014 official calendar. Staring seductively into the camera, the “Love On Top” singer traded in her blonde bob once again for subtle curls and her honey locks worn down. With a smokey eye, Beyonce also shows off her rock hard abs wearing a black sequined crop top and a matching hat while holding her right arm up for the stunning pose.
Us also has a sneak peek of the centerfold. The calendar features the gorgeous mother of Blue Ivy, 20 months, in a special black and white shot with minimal makeup standing in front of a zig-zag backdrop. The “Crazy in Love” star is photographed with her blonde locks swept back with one foot out the door.
The news of a new calendar comes as Beyonce prepares to next astound audiences for the New Zealand and Australian leg of her Mrs Carter Show World Tour. The calendar is available exclusively at shop.beyonce.com beginning Monday, Oct. 7, and will be available at retail starting on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
