Do You Remember?

dyr5

Do you remember on May 8, 2001 when MTV aired Carmen: A Hip Hopera marking Beyoncé’s first film debut? Yes back when Beyoncé was still rocking her corn rolls and micro braids. Playing an aspiring actress who was seductive, sassy, and an all around gold digger Carmen brought trouble wherever she went. As you know Carmen: A Hip Hopera featured an all-star cast that included Jermaine Dupri, Da Bart, Mos Def, Wyclef Jean, Mekhi Phifer, Lil’ Bow Wow, Reagan Gomez – Preston. Let me just say I’ve only watched this movie once and refuse to ever see it again. I was 8 when this movie originally came out and at the time I was a vey impressionable 8 at that. At the end of the movie when Mos Def’s character shot Beyoncé I was over everything. Literally I was sitting there with my mother balling my eyes out (yes I was a very dramatic kid at the time lol). I couldn’t believe she got shot! Like I was over that movie and for years I felt some type of way about Mos Def. Now that I’m much older now I realize how funny and ratchet Carmen: A Hip Hopera really was.

Beyoncé Readying ‘Bow Down/I Been On’ Remix with Houston Rappers?

thegame

Beyoncé pays homage to her Houston roots on “Bow Down/I Been On,” and now she’s reportedly taking it to the next level with a remix featuring some H-town rap all-stars.

According to local Fox reporter Isiah Carey (via HHNM), the Texas gal has been quietly working on a remix to the much-talked-about record, which she released last weekend.

An “internationally known rapper” tipped off the reporter, telling him that the remix will feature H-town’s own Slim Thug, Willie D, Scarface, Bun B, Kirko Bangz, and Lil’ Keke.

He decided to blow the whistle after photos from studio sessions surfaced online.

Beyoncé shouts out some of Houston’s finest on the chopped and screwed record. “Shout out to Willie D. I was in that Willie D video when I was about 14, looking crazy,” she says. “Shout out to Pimp C. You know we used to sneak and listen to that UGK.”

Are you excited to hear an H-town remix to “Bow Down/I Been On”?

Beyoncé in H&M Summer Collection 2013

hnm_main

It’s still wintry in Sweden, but that country’s most famous retailer, H&M, tapped Beyoncé to heat up its summer advertising push. The recording artist is to appear in television commercials, print ads and billboards – and she also had a hand in designing looks in the collection.

“They are full of her own personal style,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, head of design at H&M. Items include what’s described as “the perfect body-con dress,” a beach gown slashed to the thigh, high-waist shorts and a sleeveless shirt. In one of the ad images, Beyoncé wears a tie-dye bikini from the H&M for Water range, with a quarter of sales donated to the WaterAid charity.

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin lensed the print spots in Nassau, Bahamas, while the commercial was directed by Jonas Åkerlund and features a new Beyoncé track, “Standing on the Sun.” “It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial,” Beyoncé commented.

The print and outdoor ads read, “Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M,” referencing the title of her upcoming world tour, with the collection available in stores and online starting in May.
