Beyoncé: “Gender Equality Is a Myth!”

See what Beyoncé Knowles Carter thinks about gender equality and let us know your opinion!

We need to stop buying into the myth about gender equality. It isn’t a reality yet. Today, women make up half of the U.S. workforce, but the average working woman earns only 77 percent of what the average working man makes. But unless women and men both say this is unacceptable, things will not change. Men have to demand that their wives, daughters, mothers, and sisters earn more—commensurate with their qualifications and not their gender. Equality will be achieved when men and women are granted equal pay and equal respect.

Humanity requires both men and women, and we are equally important and need one another. So why are we viewed as less than equal? These old attitudes are drilled into us from the very beginning. We have to teach our boys the rules of equality and respect, so that as they grow up, gender equality becomes a natural way of life. And we have to teach our girls that they can reach as high as humanly possible.

We have a lot of work to do, but we can get there if we work together. Women are more than 50 percent of the population and more than 50 percent of voters. We must demand that we all receive 100 percent of the opportunities.

Beyonce’s hairdresser reveals the secrets behind her most iconic cuts

There are certain indisputable truths in life, and the fact that Beyoncé can pull off just about any look is one of them. In the videos for her eponymous visual album, the star showcased a wide variety of hairstyles, ranging from her pixie that rocked the world to her trademark long waves — and just about everything in between. Eager to get the details on each look, InStyle caught up with Bey’s hairstylist Neal Farinah, who created 15 out of the 17 dynamic looks for her videos, and has been working with Knowles for seven years.

“We have had such iconic moments together,” he told InStyle.com exclusively. “I’ve worked on campaign and publication shoots with her, she was the first female artist to headline at Glastonbury, and I had the opportunity to do her hair for both presidential inaugurations. It was a historic moment — she sang for Barack Obama and the First Lady, and it was hard to explain how I felt at that moment, because while I was doing her hair, I feel like I was representing everyone, and I felt proud and very grateful.”

As if working on 15 of her new videos didn’t keep him busy enough, Farinah was simultaneously working with Beyoncé during her Mrs. Carter World Tour. Filming often took place on the same day as a show, and the multiple hair changes — her pixie and long bob included — always kept fans guessing what she’d try next.

Diddy Says Beyonce Will Reach Diana Ross Fame

Diddy reveals that REVOLT TV isn’t “big on just the reality shows,” hopes to make dreams come true with the network. As part of REVOLT TV’s “State Of Revolt: The Chairman Talks” special, the cable television network’s owner, Diddy, addressed a handful of major music events that have happened this year. Among the most recent happenings Diddy discussed was Beyonce’s newly-released album, Beyonce. The Houston songstress released the surprise album on iTunes on December 13. Despite the unexpectedness of the project, Beyonce currently serves as one of the year’s biggest releases and one of Beyonce’s “best albums” according to Diddy.

During the “State Of Revolt: The Chairman Talks” special, Diddy gave credit to Beyonce for creating a body of work with her new album and revealed that the singer will one day be up there with the likes of Diana Ross and The Rolling Stones.

“I would just motivate more artists and more producers to create a body of work, man,” said Diddy. “You know what I’m saying? You don’t have to do 20 joints. Create a body of work that stands for something and that you want to see stand for yourself 10 years from now. And I think that she didn’t go after making radio records. Like we got, I think, one of the best albums from Beyonce. And also just from an innovation level she’s a different type of artist. She’s up there with the great ones. And everybody should aspire to be up there. Her name will be said with Diana Ross. It will be said with The Rolling Stones.” Read the rest of this entry »

Alicia Keys talks about “Put It In A Love Song” Video

Alicia Keys and Beyoncé fans have wondered for far too long why the music video for “Put It in a Love Song” — filmed back in 2010 in Brazil with a Carnival-esque theme — never popped up in their endless (and fruitless) YouTube searches. Speaking to Essence magazine, Alicia Keys finally explains why the final cut didn’t get to see a daylight after all.

ESSENCE.com: Finally, fans have been dying to know what ever happen to the “Put It In a Love Song” video you shot with Beyoncé?

KEYS: Ohhh man! Y’all aren’t going to leave me alone about that! Sometimes with creative things [it] all comes together and it’s (makes perfection kissing noise) and sometimes things almost come together and it’s better to just leave it. So we love that song. We had a ball shooting the video. It just so happens that the whole thing, for some reason or another, didn’t quite come together so we just decided to leave it. And that’s what happened.

Downton Abbey’s Laura Carmichael: “I have a huge girl crush on Beyonce”

Laura Carmichael is enjoying the perks of DowntonAbbey‘s success in America and has developed a massive crush while spending time in the US – the Brit star is crazy about Beyonce Knowles.

‘I have such a huge girl crush on Beyonce,’ admits Laura, 25.

‘She’s just so sexy and inspirational and she makes no secret of the fact she works hard.

‘If I’m feeling discouraged or at a low ebb I ask myself, “What would Beyonce do?” and I know she would go to the gym or the supermarket.’

The actress, who plays prim and proper Lady Edith Crawley in the ITV drama, was lucky enough to find herself within reaching distance of her idol at The Met Ball in New York.

But, poor Laura was so astounded that she couldn’t muster up the courage to approach Beyonce, instead making do with admiring her Givenchy couture dress from a distance.
