Jay-Z and Beyonce performed onstage last night at DirecTV Super Saturday Night. “All hail to the queen!” Jay Z told the crowd at New York’s Pier 40 stadium. As if we needed to be told. There were whispers before the DirecTV Super Bowl party got going that Jay Z’s wife might make a surprise entrance. And it happened.

Beyonce is making Super Bowl weekend performances something of a habit. A year after performing for the big game at the Superdome in New Orleans, Beyonce performed for a smaller crowd as a  surprise cameo on the eve of the Super Bowl.

Dressed in a slinky black lace dress, Beyonce sang her hit “Drunk In Love,” which, of course, her superstar husband guest stars on. As he rapped, she danced in his face, and when the smoldering song ended, the two embraced, and shared a kiss.

In this case, BFF could stand for “Bigtime Famous Friends.”

The first lady turns 50 on Friday, and it’s being reported that she will be serenaded by singer Beyonce for the occasion. The White House is not commenting on whether the singer will be in attendance for Michelle Obama’s birthday party, but it’s well known that the pair are friends.

The superstar performed the Etta James classic “At Last” at President Obama’s first inaugural ball and teamed up with Michelle Obama for her initiative to get children more active. Who can forget FLOTUS dancing to Beyonce’s “Move Your Body” exercise theme? Even their spouses are friends. Rapper Jay Z changed the lyrics to his rap song to say “I’ve got 99 problems but Mitt ain’t one” during an Obama fundraiser.

Madonna and Beyonce appear to have their eyes locked on the Grammy stage.

The pop superstars are expected to be among the big surprise moments during next week’s ceremony, according to two sources with knowledge of the plans.

The Grammys is where she will make her first televised performance in support of the project — which shattered iTunes records upon its release in December — according to a source with knowledge of the matter.
